TO REALLY IMPROVISE, TO SAY SOMETHING you feel at this moment, is the most difficult thing in the world.
真正的即兴演奏，表达自身当下的感受，是世界上最难的事情。
If you play what you know, then it's not real.
如果演奏自身以前已经知道的，那就不是真正的即兴演奏。
To truly improvise requires you not to know anything,
真正的即兴演奏需要自身什么都“不知道”
in a sense. It's a very difficult and obtuse point. You want to have your knowledge available to you, but the most beautiful thing is to play something for the first time in your life.
在某种意义上说，真正的即兴演奏是一个非常艰难而且愚蠢的方向。一方面人总想让所学有所用，但另一方面，最美的音乐却大都是人一生中“第一次”就演奏出来的那些。
In this state of mind you see everything before you, every possibility, and you feel you have the ability to move down any avenue you wish--all are suddenly open to you.
在这种精神状态下，人感受到所有以前所学的，感受到所有可能发生的，感受到已经具有了按自身想法改变所有途径的能力。----世间的所有这时都同时向人打开了。
Music opens the avenues, places you've never been.
这时候演奏音乐，音符打开了由你选择的，并且以前从未去过的那个途径。
That can happen in your imagination, but when it occurs in music it's wonderful, because it happens not only inside, but outside at the same moment. It's magic.
这个过程也可以单独发生在人的想象中，而这也就是音乐真正的美妙之处。因为音乐不仅能发生在人的体内，也可以同时原封不动地发生在人的体外。这就是传说中的“魔法”。
真正的即兴演奏的过程就是“魔法”发生的过程。
