GuitarPort 2.0 software is still 100% compatible with the original GuitarPort hardware, and can also be used with PODxt?and PODxt Pro (but not POD 2.0 or POD Pro). GuitarPort provides complete PODxt editor/librarian features, and after the beta period, PODxt users will be able to join and enjoy all the features of GuitarPort Online as well.
PODxt's run all their guitar processing internally when used with or without the GuitarPort software, whereas guitar processing is done on the computer when GuitarPort hardware is used. Because the full PODxt model library has not been translated to the computer-native processing format used with the GuitarPort hardware, PODxt's provide a larger Amp, Cab and Effect Model set than GuitarPort hardware does.
The firmware upgrade that PODxt requires to work with GuitarPort also includes a new "Vibe" feature for that allows it to be tuned for better sound when used as a front-end for a guitar amplifier. (The Vibe feature is not available on PODxt Pro.) This firmware is automatically installed by the GuitarPort software when used with PODxt, and does not restrict any other features of PODxt.
