Xfer Records has introduced Serum 2, a major update to their flagship wavetable synthesizer. The new version expands the sonic capabilities of the original, offering enhanced control, multiple oscillator types, and an improved workflow. Serum 2 is available at an introductory price of $189.00, increasing to $249.00 after the promotion. Existing registered users can download the update for free.
Expanded Sound Design Capabilities
Serum 2 extends the wavetable synthesis engine with multiple oscillator types, providing advanced tools for sound designers and musicians. The Wavetable Oscillator has been refined with Smooth Interpolation Mode, enabling near-infinite frame positions without morphing. It also features FM, phase distortion, ring modulation, and new warp modes for deeper sound manipulation.
The new Multisample Oscillator allows for real instrument replication, with a built-in library of recordings from orchestras, choirs, pianos, guitars, and more. Users can also import their own multisamples using the SFZ format.
Advanced Oscillators for Creative Sound Shaping
Granular Oscillator – A powerful granular synthesis engine for reshaping and re-imagining sounds.
Spectral Oscillator – Enables harmonic-level resynthesis with transient detection for advanced time and frequency manipulation.
Sample Oscillator – Supports looping, slicing, and real-time modulation, including a rate control for tape-stop effects.
Workflow Enhancements and Expansive Content
Serum 2 introduces flexible effect routing, an arpeggiator, and a clip sequencer, allowing for greater creative expression. The synth ships with over 626 presets and 288 wavetables, providing a vast library of ready-to-use sounds.
System Compatibility
Serum 2 is available for PC and Mac in VST3, AU, and AAX formats.
