Problem Editing Clone Audio Regions

Hi,

P282 of the manual says
'You can of course create independent copies of audio regions (by Option-dragging) which can be adjusted without affecting other copies or the source region'.
I am trying to 'normalize' a copy of an audio region created as above, but when I do so the original is also normalized which I don't want to happen. Where an I going wrong?
When it says 'Option' does that mean 'Alt' ? I have no Option key on my keyboard.

Please help.

I didn't find the right solution from the Internet.

The kind of independent adjustments allowed by Option-dragging don't include anything done in the sample editor. What you can do independently with the copied region are things like changing region boundaries or putting duplicate regions on other tracks for different processing.

If you want to to do edits in the sample editor without affecting the original audio file, you'll need to make a new audio file out of the copied region. Audio>Convert Regions to New Audio File.

And yes, Option is the Mac version of Alt.
