How to create an LM-4 kit quickly and easily without using an editor
This is a quick and easy way to make your own kits though you must sacrifice one of the existing kits.
Using your audio editor, load or sample the sound you wish to add to your kit
Edit to taste and then select 'Save as'
Select the folder in the \Vstplugins\LM4\ folder of the drum kit you are sacrificing, such as \Real Drums\ and name your .wav file the same as one of the existing .wavs
Windows will ask you if you want to replace that file choose yes and your sample will replace the old one in this drum kit
Do this with all the samples and you have a new kit!
You can take this one step further by renaming the kit.
Copy the folder containing the samples and rename the copy to something else (i.e. 'Test Drums')
Open the *.txt file in Notepad and edit the 3rd line so that the name of the new folder is listed instead of the old one (i.e. 'Test Drums')
'Save as' the *.txt file with the name of the new kit (i.e. 'Test Drums.txt').
Launch Cubase and LM-4 and type in the name of the new kit (i.e. 'Test Drums') and the kit should load
Now save the patch as usual and you can load this kit whenever you want and still use the original dummy kit (i.e. 'Real Drums') as a template for future kits.
