3、DSP卡的概念，不消耗CPU——Yes, Melodyne can do a lot of the stuff that this unit is capable of. But, you forget that Melodyne is software that taxes the CPU, while the VariOS does not tax the CPU. Take a look at what it really is. This product is like a DSP card that connects to the computer via a USB port instead of using a PCI slot, a card in a case with software designed to run on this unit. Furthermore, since it is a DSP card, in the future you can use the unit for entirely new applications when the Roland developers team come up with new software for it. Now, let's take a look at the price: it's 600 dollars more expensive than the comparable Melodyne software. For this 600 dollars you get a DSP card that does not tax the CPU, together with good software. Hmm, it suddenly does not sound so bad anymore, does it? Of course, I have not done an A/B comparison between Melodyne and the VariOS, but from what I saw on the video I thought that VariOS sounded pretty good.
