Yes! my JP-8080s' sounds are great for Trance lines/leads and strings, and various effects. Filters are great! but it clicks sometimes as mentioned earlier. Does someone know how to determine the current OS version??.

yo!
about rebooting; i have sometimes similar problems, but not always, sometimes happen to me after 1 or 2 hours, sometimes already in 30 min , but sometimes never and i have power on about 4-5 hours, so i don't know why is that so,
about "clickin"sound; well i know that when i set Amp envelope too low, especialy knobs "A" and "R",or filter section there's clicking sound, but when i rise up a little then i don't get effect i want to, similar happens at my Juno-106 synth, the same thing.Well after time you'll get used to it and try to make another sound.
otherwise is great synth, very powerfull sounds, especially bass, leads and strange sounds, heh, i'm making hardtrance, psy, and similar and i can tell you it's killer synth, little expensive, but would have another one, hehe

Has anyone's 8080 ever rebooted by itself while on? It seems to only happen when I use the midi ports. Roland tech support says that there is no way any midi messages or corrupt messages would cause the unit to repower itself back on, so I'm taking their advice and replacing it. I've tried 4 different outlets and another working power cord. Besides that, the synth is phat. GET IT NOW!

Great synth and beautiful pads!! If you are into Dutch trance then get this synth. Hands-down great! Pair it up with a Nord or Virus and you are in synth heaven.
For the reviewer below: The 'clicks' are due to the very fast attack rate. Many synths create a click or pop noise if the attack is set to 0. Basically the attack is happening so fast it causes a pop. Raise the value slightly and it will go away. This applies to many VA synths.

I've had this synth for over 2 years now. I really like it and it forms the heart of my set up. This synth is a dream to program, plenty of knobs and sliders, everything else is a couple of button push's away. The fx are basic but thats good. Im not a big fan of synths that use heaps of fx to make up its sound. Distortion is not that great, but i hardly ever use it. It is good though when you want to make a really harsh ear splitting bass sound - think Atari Teenage Riot.
The major con on this synth (as previously mentioned) "is the clicking sound occurs with certain env or filter settings, sometimes tweaking the filter envelope helps or raising the attack in the amp etc, I have also heard other VA's do this on occassion" - I haven't heard a va which is as bad as the JP8080. Often the clicking gets hidden in the mix. I get around this now though by using a external filter (Electrix Filter Factory). Don't let the clipping colour your view of this synth, cause if you are looking for a synth that does pads, smooth leads and basses then this a synth that I would put at the top of your list.
