EXS-24 VS Kontakt话题讨论,希望对大家有些帮助——》

Has anyone tried the two together ?pros and cons to them and which is the overall winner(efficient, sounds better)?honestly, thanks ....

I have them both. The EXS is more efficient till you get into really large libaries. Yet not as graphically rich as Kontakt. Kontakt has more filters, and has the "tone machine" or "time machine" These functions are no mere "effects" tools, they are formant and varispeed tools. Kontakt is also cross-application and cross-platform. The EXS is proprietary to Logic.

Kontakt 1.1 was released yesterday. You can now import EXS and Halion

the logic rep i spoke with last week that we can expect an update soon for EXS24. he's under an NDA (non-disclosure agreement), so he wouldn't fess up to the new features. this is not an entirely surprising development, now that EXS has some real competition from Halion (supports EMU imports) and Kontakt (great sound mod capabilities)

Halion supports emu? Is this support for soundfonts or E4, E3x? Interesting!

HALion imports Emu-4 banks, presets & samples. I wouldn't recommend it though : the HALion conversion does not sound as good as the original bank on a real hardware Emulator.

Thanks David and welcome. I am not suprised. Emu has many features that are hard to convert--namely, cords.

know this is off-topic, but what are cords, in emu parlance? i'm still a newbie with my esi-4000, even though i've had it for a long time. what was so frustrating (managing samples through a small screen) is now not that big of a deal with softsamplers. but if the audio is worse, can't that be rectified by using analog gear to warm up the audio after it exits the computer?

The esi series does not have cords. Though you can do stuff with real time controllers. And some routings are "built in" like freq-->envelope, etc. Cords are sort of like a typical matrixing system many synths have, but it is more flexible in that it is freely definable. You can have a cord routed to another cord to make the sound change only under the conditions of the 1st cord. Think "patchcords". The fullest implementation of cords is not in emu's EOS samplers but in their proteus synths.

There is something really nice about the EOS samplers sound that the neither the proteus or the esi can touch. To call it "warmth" is a cop out as it's not tubal at all. I imagine a processor could improve the sound of a soft sampler--perhaps something like the BBE would help.
