Logic 5 and Logic Control — the pricing

It is quite astonishing just how large an expenditure in terms of human and financial resources is required in order to reach the ambitious goal that we have set for Logic 5 and Logic Control: to offer the most intelligent and complete integration of music production software and hardware controller yet available.

A core team of more than 30 hardware engineers, industrial designers, software developers and product managers have been working for almost a year on this exciting project, and the accumulated development costs have long since passed the 1 million Dollar mark. While this is a much larger amount than Mackie and Emagic had originally calculated, the clear benefit is that Logic Control has also become much better than originally planned. This applies, not only to the quality of the total concept, but also to the quality of the individual components such as displays, faders and switches. In spite of this, we, together with Mackie, have decided to calculate the recommended retail price as narrowly as possible. After all, this product was also developed to make the advantages of professional hardware controllers, which have so far only been accessible to customers with considerable financial resources, affordable for as many studios as possible - for even more creative options and pleasure during music production.

The recommended retail pricing is therefore as follows. Prices may vary slightly in other international markets. All products will be available on January 7th, 2002.

Logic Platinum Version 5 Update (from Version 4.x) $149.00
Logic Control (base unit) $1,299.00
Logic Control XT (8 channel extension) $1,129.00

German Pricing
Logic Platinum Version 5 Update (from Version 4.x) 169,00 Euro
Logic Control (base unit) 1.399,00 Euro

By any objective standard, and especially in comparison with existing controllers, it is clear that Logic 5 and Logic Control offer an exceptional price/performance advantage. Many Emagic staff members and testers are already working with this system and report an astonishing, but perhaps not unexpected, phenomenon: the Logic they all thought they knew suddenly feels amazingly faster, more powerful and versatile when used in conjunction with the controller. And the new Version 5 offers even more. I hope that you can soon take advantage of this progressive system in your own studio.
