一次介绍自己目前和声概念的presentation:
"I'm a harmony fan. A fan of imperfection.
The most brilliant phrase i have ever heard about harmony is from one episode of House of cards, Kevin Spacey said Harmony is not about what's lasting or permanent, it is about individual voices coming together for a moment, and that moment lasts the length of a breath.
So beautiful. I definitely hope that one day we can hire Kevin to our harmony department.
One of my teacher Larry Bell describe Berklee as a Chord factory. Just like Cheese factory(波城一处卖芝士蛋糕的地方), only we write and sell chords. Kevin will probably says we write and sell chords in this moment of our breath.
Life is very similar to music (or vice versa), it has its perfection only at the very beginning and at the very ending, between our birth and death, the most beautiful things about life we have are imperfections. This is stolen from Robin Williams, he loves his wife fart in her dream, Good will hunting.
Before Bach there's a book called the study of counterpoint by Joseph Fux. (Bach studied it, Mozart using it teaching his son, Haydn, Beethoven worked every lesson of it.) In this book we can also see your western people are very enjoying in a style of having all imperfections in the middle part of your life or music since forever.
On the paper i wrote several "C" chords using from only 1 note to all 12 notes that we can have, in a most imperfection way i can do. That means I consider the interval 5th and 8th are too perfect for outer voices of all chords. Only thing i can add is just don't think them in a chord scale or any functional way. Alright, let's hear our results..."
