The famous percussionist Adame Dramé in one of his very
first recordings, accompanied by Lacina Koné.
Adama Dramé was borne in Nouna, Burkina-Faso, in 1954,
in a family of musicians and storytellers, guardians of tradition,
DJELIS, who are called griots in English. With a Malinke culture,
he became a professional musician when he was twelve. He learnt
his skills in traditional ceremonies such as birth, baptisms,
weddings etc.
Once Master Dejembé, Adama claimed his African identity
and his faithfulness to his own traditions. A modern griot,
he knows how to communicate his love for African tradition
and music on stages all over the world. Since 1979, he spreads
his knowledge and the science of his instrument (the djembe),
in Africa, Europe and America. His teaching skills have enabled
him to form many percussionists during training practises and master classes.
Adama Dramé himself, his instrument and his musicians
have filled a large public with enthusiasm thanks to the
magic of their show which mixes music, dances and songs. His
numerous travels have led him to open his mind to other
cultures, other music, and above all to work with European
musicians such as the Royal de Luxe, André Cecarelli,
Bernard Lubat, Marc Vella, The New Ensemble of Amsterdam,
Jean-Philippe Riquiel, the Black Blancs Beurs company, or
the Percussions of Strasbourg...!
He is now coming back with a new album, which is the fruit
of all his experiences.
