Cool 冷爵士乐(或西海岸爵士乐)
冷爵士乐是在四十年代后期和五十年代，从波晋爵士乐直接演化而成的，这种音乐风格基本上是波普爵士乐和摇摆乐某些被忽视和抛弃的特点结合的产物。不和谐的声音变得流畅自然，曲调更为柔和，编曲重新受到重视，节奏部乐器的演奏也更为和谐，因为这种风格的音乐家主要都是以西海岸的洛杉矾为中心，因此这种风格也被人们称为西海岸爵士乐。一些冷爵士乐作品反映出古典爵土乐的影响，因此具有很强的实验性，而大多数冷爵士乐作品的音乐会都是精心设计的，非常迎合大众的口味。尽管大多数冷爵士乐风格的音乐家都有很长的音乐生涯，但是随着五十年代后期硬爵士乐从美国的东海岸兴起，最终超越了冷爵士乐的影响。
