HP xw8400 with BIOS version 2.13 will not play back Pro Tools. When play button is pressed with no tracks in the session, play andstop buttons will flash but Pro Tools will not go into playback.
When Pro Tools does play back, the counters and play cursor will stutter badly.
Reverting to BIOS version 1.19 resolves this issue. Download HP xw8400 Workstation System BIOS Version 1.19 below:

HP xw6400 and xw8400 Workstation - 928 Power On Self Test Error after reboot
DESCRIPTIONThe workstations listed in the SCOPE section have advanced error reporting for the Memory Controller Hub (MCH). Various system BIOS versions report the errors as follows:
- System BIOS v 1.15 and earlier will report a 923 - Non fatal error.
- System BIOS v 1.17 and v 1.19 may hang the workstation.
- System BIOS v 1.23 to v 2.18 will show the error message on the next boot as described below:
- In the event of a fatalerror the workstation will log the error and reboot the workstation.This error is displayed on the next boot of the workstation. In theevent of a non-fatal error the workstation will continue to work asnormal, and the error will be logged. Depending on how the BIOS isconfigured, the user may be notified on the next reboot. In the case ofthe 928 error, this error is non-fatal but was being reported on thenext boot regardless of how the BIOS was configured. After a reboot,the workstation may halt after Power On Self Test (POST) and state“928-Non fatal uncorrectable FBD error on x.”

RESOLUTION Update the system BIOS to v 2.21 or newer.
简直是疯掉了！！！！！Digidesign的开发人员都是干什么吃的！！软件有Bug没关系，改呀，发补丁呀！！！！东西卖的这么贵，服务又这么差！！！这叫人怎么办嘛。。。。电脑都买了，才发现又这样的问题，这不是害人嘛！
