Well its possible, but then again, how many audio channels do you want???
I have 16 simultaneous tracks running, with about 30 plug-ins enabled. My CPU is like 80-100%, but my disk IO is sitting at around 5% on a single 20Gb IDE drive. You could go IDE RAID (Yes it increases performance, allows you to create single partitions from multiple drives and things load quicker), but then again, you could always consider SCSI RAID with a big onboard cache on the drives :)
SCSI has its benefits, particularly when doing multi-channel recording.
Playback, you'll rarely suffer whether you go SCSI, IDE, Raid or not......
