What type of SIMMS do I have to use ? (further info)
You already know that you can use 64/32/16/8 mb 27 pins simms (EDO or FP). You can also use different sizes, brand or no brand simms. You have to watch out that you buy bars with all chips on one side for 64 mb. It is also advisable that you use SIMMS with quality connector (gold or metal, not tin) just to be sure that there will be no occurance of corosion at the contacts of the slots in the XV-5080. Typically you're not going to switch ram chips as often as you would do in a computer so they are going to be in tnere for a long time. It's not an absolute DANGER if you find yourself with SIMMS that have tin connectors, but just to be on the safe side...... The RAM issue for the XV-5080 is maybe the most controversial aspect of the synth. In the links page you can go to a compatiblity list and be sure of wich brand of RAM will work.
