Listen to one of the first thirteen sonatas (not Opus 7).

List the ways in which it seems to conform to Opus 7.

第二次作业题目:
Haydn died in 1809, the same year Beethoven wrote the sonatas discussed in lecture four. Listen to one of Haydn's final three sonatas:
Sonata in C major, Hob.XVI:50
Sonata in D major, Hob.XVI:51
Sonata in E-flat major, Hob.XVI:52
Write two paragraphs about the ways in which Haydn's late-in-life conception of the sonata differs from Beethoven's at this point.
Write one paragraph that explores how you respond to these distinctions when you listen to the music.
Be sure to mention which Haydn sonata you selected and, if heard online, provide a link to it.
第三次作业题目:
For the final assessment, listen to one of the nine Beethoven sonatas discussed in the course.
Imagining that this is a contemporary work or that you lived when it was a new work, write a review of the piece (NOT the performance), preferably incorporating some of the historical and stylistic questions discussed in the course. If you listened online, include a link to the source.
Word count should be between 750 and 1,250, depending on the work selected.
总体印象:应该是给零基础的学生准备的,难度对于有音乐基础的朋友来说偏低。作业需要较好的归纳与写作能力。对于纵向的音乐史部分、跟其他音乐家的横向比较有重点提及,也有粗略提到和声与曲式分析,但不是重点。因此这门课比一般的音乐鉴赏课要更深层,有点像国外的musicianship课程,个人认为对钢琴演奏的理解有一定帮助,对作曲者了解风格有少许帮助,但对作曲者掌握特定的技法帮助不大。
