Main Features
Ease of Programming
OM offers the user a number of visual modules, each of which is associated with a specific function and visual icon. The user needs only to connect the modules together using the mouse in order to create a program, called a patch, for generating or transforming musical material. Patches may be imbedded in each other.
Powerful Editors
Music Notation of musical objects (note, rhythm, chord etc.) and complex polyphony
MIDI piano-roll using MidiShare (from GRAME France)
Sound file waveform display
"Maquette" editor which features : high level time oriented representation of the overall form of the work, playing capabilities (using both audio and MIDI), import/export of contents to Finale, management of all the material included in the composition.

Technical Features
Visual programming in Digitool's Common Lisp and CLOS (Common Lisp Object System). Persistence of objects which may be selected, drag & dropped, opened, interconnected into Patches, shared or trashed. Drag & Drop capabilities applied to objects symbolized by icons (instantiations of classes and methods) in the OpenMusic Workspace as well as the Macintosh finder.
Configuration
Power Macintosh, OS 8+, 64 MB free RAM, 120 MB free HD. Sound File formats : AIFF, MIDI, SDIF, Csound. Compatible MidiShare and OMS.
