HI,
What platforms exist or have existed for multi-track digital recording without the use of a computer? I do not so much mean the various generations of standalone audio workstations that included a control surface etc such as the Roland VS and Yamaha AW series. Imagine instead you already had a mixing desk including EQ and lots of outboard.
In other words, what was / is the most direct equivalent of analog tape for the digital domain? A "drop-in replacement" if you will - but without using a computer! The only thing I'm aware of is ADAT. Was / is there anything else? Is ADAT obsolete? Is it still useable? Did it evolve into something that used hard drives rather than magnetic tape?
please help
I did not find the right solution from the internet.
